Welcome to The Solihull Society of Arts Drama Section

The Solihull Society of Arts

The headquarters of the Solihull Society of Arts can be found at Alderbrook School & Arts College, Blossomfield Road.

2004 marked the 60th Anniversary of the founding of Solihull Society of Arts and, during the same year, the SSA in partnership with Alderbrook School and Arts College opened the new Arts Centre in the grounds of the school.

The aim of the SSA, which has registered charitable status, is simply to promote the arts within Solihull. This, too, is the stated aim of the borough's arts plan, of which Alderbrook School was already an established part.

The Solihull Society of Arts was formed in 1944 as a means of offering cultural relief in the austere post-war period and, today, is comprised of six SSA sections: drama, opera, art, history, literature and recorded music which are in the process of establishing themselves have already opened up so many areas of educational opportunity already.

Each Section has a varied programme of events running throughout the year and anyone is welcome to attend meetings or apply for membership. Their network of contacts, and ours, within the Solihull arts community doubles the effectiveness of our outreach.

Anyone is able to audition for SSA drama and opera productions, and membership of the other sections is also open to all.
